Packing light is one of the small luxuries of a villa stay. You don’t need to ship your surfboard from home or lug a golf bag through the airport. Between Jacó, Los Sueños, and Herradura, there are good options for renting just about anything you need on the water, on the course, or around the resort.
Here’s where to find them.
Surfboards and Water Sports
Jacó is one of Costa Rica’s main surf hubs, and the board rental scene reflects that. Whether you’re a beginner picking up a foam longboard for a morning session or an intermediate rider who wants something with more performance, you have several shops to choose from.
Carton Surf Shop is one of the more respected options in town. The owner shapes his own boards, so the rental inventory is better-quality than typical tourist shop stock. Located on the south end of Jacó. Contact: +506 7210 9799 or cartonshaper@hotmail.com.
Surf Jaco (surfingjaco.com) rents boards starting at $25 per day and will deliver to your hotel or villa, which is worth knowing if you don’t want to strap a board to a golf cart. They serve the Jacó area.
Surfer Factory has a surf school and board inventory in Jacó, with SUP operations based at Herradura and Mantas beaches, where calmer water makes learning paddleboarding much easier than the open ocean at Jacó. They run lessons alongside rentals.
For a more structured SUP experience, SUPHERR Stand Up Paddle & Kayak Center operates directly on Herradura Bay, a sheltered inlet right next to Los Sueños Marina. Golf Equipment
La Iguana Golf Course Pro Shop at the Los Sueños Marriott handles all equipment needs for the course. You don’t need to bring a set.

Note: the La Iguana course is an 18-hole Ted Robinson design that runs through jungle and along Pacific-view ridgelines. Monkeys and iguanas are routine course companions. Golf Carts
Inside Los Sueños Resort, golf carts are the standard way to get around. The resort is large enough that walking to the marina, beach club, or amenities gets old fast, and a cart makes it easy to haul gear, beach bags, or kids between your villa and wherever you’re headed.
Los Sueños Golf Cart Rental covers the resort with free delivery and pickup. Rates:

Tip: if you’re staying a full week or longer, the weekly rate works out to about half the per-day cost. Book in advance during the December-April high season.
Bikes
For getting around Jacó town, a bicycle is the fastest and most convenient option. The town is flat, compact, and the main strip covers maybe 1.5 kilometers from end to end.
Cuchi Transfers runs a fleet of 40 rental bikes at $20 per day and will fit you properly when you arrive. Open Monday through Sunday, 7am-10pm. Website: cuchitransfers.com.
10CIO Bike Shop is another well-reviewed option in Jacó, consistently praised on TripAdvisor for competitive pricing and good selection. A Note on Baby Gear
Traveling with an infant or toddler requires more logistics. If your villa doesn’t already include a crib or high chair (many do, so check with your host first), BabyQuip is a national platform that connects families with local providers renting cribs, strollers, car seats, and other gear. Coverage in the Jacó and Los Sueños area is not as consistent as in San José, so contact them early to confirm a local provider is available for your dates: babyquip.com.
Planning Your Stay
Most equipment rentals in this area don’t require much advance booking during low season (May-November). During peak months (December-April, especially holiday weeks), golf cart rentals in Los Sueños sell out and surf shop inventory gets thin on specific board types. Book at least a week ahead if your dates fall in that window.
