Los Sueños Marina Village Guide
The Marina Village is the commercial heart of Los Sueños Resort, sitting at the entrance to the 200-slip international marina on Herradura Bay. It’s where guests come to eat, drink, browse, and watch the charter fishing fleet come in at the end of the day.
If you’re staying in a Nest Stays villa or condo at Los Sueños, the Marina Village is a short walk or golf cart ride away. This guide covers what’s there, so you know where to go before you need it.
Restaurants in the Marina Village
Five dining spots are within the village, ranging from quick coffee stops to sit-down dinners.
The Hook Up
The go-to spot in the village for casual food and sports viewing. It’s on the second floor of the Marina entry building, overlooking the docks. The menu covers burgers, tacos, and regular daily specials. There’s a big video wall for games, and a small stand near the stairs sells official Los Sueños apparel if you want a keepsake.
Open daily 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM.
Dolce Vita Coffee and Sweets
In the center of the village, Dolce Vita is the early-day anchor. Breakfast and lunch service includes homemade pastries, fresh breads baked daily, gelato, smoothies, and specialty coffees. It’s a relaxed spot good for a quick meal or just grabbing a coffee and sitting for a while.
Open daily 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
Lanterna Italian Steakhouse
Lanterna occupies a garden setting near the marina with wood-fired cooking as its focus. The menu centers on imported Angus beef steaks grilled over an open fire, plus Italian classics, homemade thin-crust pizzas from a wood-fired oven, and fresh fish. The setting is a step up from the casual spots, making it a good choice for a sit-down dinner.
Open daily 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM.
Bambú Sushi & Asian Cuisine
Sushi and Asian dishes with marina views. You can eat in the air-conditioned dining room or at a table on the open-air terrace overlooking the water. The menu covers sushi rolls, sashimi, and dishes inspired by travel across Asia, alongside specialty cocktails.
Open daily 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM.
Beach Club: Al Fresco
The private Beach Club sits on a 4.6-acre oceanfront property with a freeform pool, jacuzzi, swim-up bar, and elevated white sand beach. Al Fresco is the restaurant there, serving lunch and dinner with poolside favorites including items from a wood-fired pizza oven.
Al Fresco is exclusively for Los Sueños homeowners, guests, and renters staying in the resort. Nest Stays guests may have Beach Club access through the resort’s rental program.
Open daily 11:30 AM to 7:00 PM.
Shopping and Services
The Marina Village has a range of shops and services beyond dining:
- Los Sueños Wine & Spirits — liquor and wine store, useful if you want to bring something back to your villa
- Clothing boutique — resort wear and beach apparel
- Crate & Barrel home goods — the only location in the Jaco/Herradura area
- Jimmy T’s Provisions — a small gourmet grocery deli, handy for stocking your fridge
- Two banks — for basic financial services
- Car and golf cart rental shop — if you want to explore beyond the resort
- Los Sueños Real Estate Sales Center — for those considering a purchase
The village also hosts the Stay in Costa Rica office, the on-site vacation rental company with an office front and center in the village.
Nightlife and Evening Atmosphere
Marina Village is not a nightlife destination in the vein of Jaco. After dinner, the scene quiets down. The restaurants stay open until 10:00 PM, and the bars draw a mellow crowd watching the sunset over the marina rather than a late-night party crowd.
The Hook Up draws a mix of anglers and guests in the evenings. It’s the kind of place where you might hear a fishery’s story about the day’s catch. Soft music plays at the waterfront restaurants, and tropical cocktails are on offer.
Throughout the year, the village hosts events including live music nights, holiday celebrations, and the New Year’s Eve party with fireworks over the water. If you’re visiting during a holiday period, it’s worth asking what events are on.
Getting There from Your Villa
Most Los Sueños condos and villas are within a 5 to 15-minute walk of the Marina Village, depending on which community you’re in. From the Herradura side, it’s a straightforward walk along the resort’s internal roads.
If you’re further out or prefer not to walk, golf carts are available to rent in the village. Many Nest Stays guests keep a golf cart for their stay — it’s the standard way to get around Los Sueños.
The village is also a 10-minute drive from Jaco if you want to head into town for additional dining and shopping options.
Connect with the Rest of Los Sueños
The Marina Village is also where the sportfishing charters depart from. If you’re planning a fishing trip, sportfishing from Los Sueños is the dedicated guide to booking and what to expect.
